PREFACE
I have been raising many questions to my teachers, family, friends and colleagues about who we are and what could be the purpose of our existence; who could be our creators and what would have been the real reason behind our creation. All my attempts to quench my thirst to know more about our very existence were immaterialized. I realized that every one of us believes in one or the other concept but none knows the reality and are controlled by the scriptures we follow.
These attempts helped me learn the difference between believing and knowing. It helped me realize the fact that we know nothing of the purpose of our creation and existence. We live believing; we debate for our beliefs and we fight for it. Who is to say which is right and which is wrong? How many of us actually attempted to read between the lines and see how beautiful we are as a single species?
The motivation behind writing this book is the thought that if I could have such curiosities, how many would be out there thinking alike. This book is an outcome of one’s curiosity and anxiety and does not bear any intention of establishing one’s belief on the other. It seeks a logical explanation for various ancient mythologies and tries to find links between them. It suggests imprinting various mythologies in transparent minds and laying one on top of another to observe the gaps being filled and to discover a universal truth which can no longer be considered as a ‘Myth’ but as our Pre-History.

The Universe is a myriad of unsolved mysteries that has left trails that lead to nowhere, oceans beyond depths, mountains that speak alien volumes and a force that is undefined. A throw of thoughts, or a deep dive into these mysteries and obscurities would lead to many more curves and twists giving us opportunities for scientific and spiritual interpretations.
Mr. Raveendran’s ‘A Quest for a Lifetime’ is a beautiful attempt at untangling the cuddled up elements of this universe, whilst giving an aura of spirituality and science in equal flavors. His inquisitive mind to discover the meaning of existence has been evident in each and every page, helping him lead the readers to the realms of mythology, scientific space, spiritual philosophies, over and above the common thread of human anthropology.
The striking aspect of the book is the maintenance of a universal approach touching the disposition of existentialism, in the most informal manner. On the other hand, the author has maintained the humility and simplicity of the language that makes it easily comprehensible for the common man. However, unlike ordinary books, ‘A Quest for a Lifetime’ demands a complete scanning, a deep thinking coupled with a reminiscence of one’s own experiences.
The title ‘A Quest for a Lifetime’ captures the beauty of never ending thirst for knowledge which is nothing but “seeking”. The book takes its readers, on a journey of discovery, a journey that will lead them one step closer to the truth. If you are a constant inquirer, you shouldn’t be missing out on this read as it is very much a part of existential learning.
